Wielkanocni kolędnicy
On the last Sunday before Easter people in Poland go to the church with colourful palms. But people in Finland, the land of witches and magic spells, dress up like witches and visit houses from the neighbourhood wishing everyone a good year. This old poem sounds like a very bad magic spell. But actually it's nothing new in my perception of a Finnish language.
W ostatnią niedzielę przed Wielkanocą Polacy zakładają kurtki i biegną do kościoła z kolorowymi palmami. Finowie zaś, jak przystało na kraj pełen czarownic i magicznych zaklęć, przebierają się za czarownice i "kolędują" po domach życząc domownikom pomyślnego roku takim oto wierszykiem:
Biblioteka na końcu świata. The library at the end of the world.
Notka z okazji Międzynarodowego Dnia Książki dla Dzieci
Some of my Polish friends claims that I live at the end of the world. It seems to me I have always lived in Oulu, but it's ok, call it as you wish. Fortunately my end of the world owns a building, that I can't imagine to live without. A library! A place that I've easily got addicted to. Especially children's department of the library, where I use to come every day or sometimes every second day. And simply go over Swedish, English and Finnish books on the shelves, admire the illustrations and try to understand what are they about :)
Wiosna w Oulu
Kevät Oulussa! No more darkness, only pink boots and obligatory a big smile on my face. The ice on rivers slowly melts. Under the thick snow are appearing pavements and streets.
I’ve noticed here, that many people don’t hurry and still makes everything. I think the local spring follows this rule.
Krąg północnych świateł
„Now I don’t mind that I study at the furtherst
North architecture department in the world.
Actually, I’ve never minded it.”

That evening I found myself in a little apartment nearby railway station. On the table pieces of white chocolate and some onion soup, on the screen old TV series from Finnish childhood, and also me and Finnish architects lying on the floor. Suddenly a message came in. Aino jumped for joy and I heard: “NORDIC LIGTHS!”.
Bajka o Kuusamo
- Have you ever been in Kuusamo?
- Excuse me, Kosovo?
- Excuse me, Kosovo?
Kuusamo. Miasto turystyczne we wschodniej Laponii. Osławione najpopularniejszym centrum narciarskim w kraju i skaczącym Małyszem. Krajobrazy jak z bajki, gwiazdozbiory jak z atlasu i tylko pół godziny drogi do granicy z Rosją.
Kuusamo. A tourist village in eastern Lapland. Famous from ski centre Ruka. Fabulous landscapes, all constellations at the evening sky and only half hour drive to the Russian border.
